About Austin...Austin is the capital of the great state of Texas and the 23rd largest city in the United States, with a population of over one million for the combined Austin-San Marcos metropolitan area. Austin is known for its rolling hills, lakes and wild flowers which bloom in the spring. The weather is sunny and pleasant with mild winters and long, warm summers. Austin is world-renowned as the home to the University of Texas at Austin and as one of the most vital technological centers in the United States (which has given to our beautiful area the nickname "Silicon Hills").The Armenian community of Austin is relatively young. It is however growing rapidly with about 150 Armenian families living here presently. The community has a church (a spiritual, not a physical one), the Armenian Club at the University and an Armenian language school.
